Wisley Property Investments Ltd, has appealed to the Planning Inspectorate with regard to GBC's refusal of their planning application 15/P/00012. The appeal is due to be heard at a public inquiry to be held at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, starting 19 September 2017.
Report on Horsley Residents' Survey
East and West Horsley Parish Councils (HPC) have joined together to oppose this appeal and will be presenting evidence to the public inquiry. To help better understand the views of Horsley residents towards this proposed new settlement, the parish councils conducted a survey.
The responses have been analysed by Surrey Community Action, an independent non-profit making organisation and the results will form part of the evidence submitted by the parish councils to the planning appeal. The main findings of the questionnaire survey may be summarised as follows:
Only 5% of respondents support the proposed Wisley airfield development;
92% believe the development will have a significant detrimental impact on the general character of the area;
85% believe it will significantly increase waiting times at the Horsley medical centre;
86% believe it will make it significantly harder for children to secure local school places;
94% believe it will have a severe impact on traffic in the Horsleys;
93% believe it will make it much harder to park near Station Parade;
96% believe it will make it much harder to park at the local railway stations;
