Building on its success in 2017, Guildford in Harmony is a charity concert bringing together local choirs for an evening of uplifting music, whilst raising money for Surrey’s Oakleaf Enterprise.
Surrey based mental health charity Oakleaf Enterprise, offers its clients from around the county vocational training in horticulture, IT, and upholstery, as well as social inclusion activities in its locations in Guildford, North Guildford, Waverly, and Surrey Heath.
Introduced by Dame Penelope Keith, Presented by Matt Pinches from the Guildford Shakespeare Company, and building on its success in 2017, 'Guildford in Harmony' is a charity concert bringing together local choirs to raise money for mental health charity Oakleaf Enterprise.
Recent studies show that singing, especially in a group setting, can be highly beneficial to mental wellbeing. It helps reduce stress and build confidence. It also gives people who are isolated a reason to socialise, meet others, and gain a sense of belonging.
Oakleaf’s CEO, Clive Stone, is a strong advocate of choir singing and its positive effects on mental health and wellbeing. In fact he is in one of the choirs performing at the concert, Bellow Fellows!
“Singing has been one of the best things I have done for my own mental health and it is great to see others reap this benefit. I just wish I had started many years ago, instead of in my 50s.”
The Choirs performing in ‘Guildford In Harmony’ are; Bellow Fellows, Guildford Vox, Guidford Jazz Choir, Oakleaf’s Everyman Choir, and Guildford County school’s Chamber Choir.
Event Venue: Guildford Baptist Church, Millmead, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4BE.
Date: 7pm 24 November 2018
